Nutters In Portugal Nutters In Portugal

The following message was written by Joe on March 1st 2007:

It's now been 6 months since I did this web page, so I'll take this opportunity to update it.

Winter has been and gone so the temperature is starting to rise. The shorts and sandals will have to come out of the wardrobe very soon.

I have fell into the Portuguese way of life very well and have made plenty of new friends with varying nationalities.

The Portuguese people we have befriended have been very helpful in both the Cafe and the living accommodation side of the settling in process. Without Carla from ERA Property Agents life would have been a very lot harder, so a big thank you (OBRIGADO) goes to her in particular.

The children have settled in school very well, it was hard for them at first but they have done very well adapting to their new way of life.

At the moment I am working 4 nights a week in a nice little bar called Kerris, well worth a visit if you are ever out this way on holiday. "That should get me a free beer off the BOSS"

If anyone is looking at coming to stay in Praia Da Rocha for a holiday we now have a lovely duplex apartment that can sleep 4 people to rent at a pretty good price. Just contact Pete and he will sort out the available dates and arrange transfers if needed. A Package deal can also be set up for you if you email the details of when you want to come out.

I look forward to seeing people come out here a lot. Philip has been out twice and will be back again in mid March, he is also looking at moving here on a permanent basis. Paul, my eldest son will be out for a week in May with his wife Tracey and my Granddaughter Olivia.

The cafe bar has been doing ok with lots of repeat custom which has a lot to do with the hard work that Tom & Jackie put in before we arrived in August. We have made some improvements to the bar in the last few months which we hope will be to our benefit in the long term.

It is very nice to see the COUNTY doing well at the moment. Lets hope they keep it going and get promotion. They broke the league record last week as well for the most run of clean sheets on the run. (just to let you know I am keeping an eye on things Greg!)

One of the reasons for moving out here was to change my way of life and that I have certainly done. I have never felt better than what I do at the moment and the better climate has a lot to do with it I think. Also the slower pace of life and the CHEAP BEER!

I think that will do for this update. I will try and update it as often as I can, don't forget the flight time is only 2hours and 45 minutes if anybody fancies it. Like I said the weather is picking up so there is not much change of me coming the other way, even if I do still miss my pint in the Con Club, Smithy and Boards Head.
